What night time nursing looks like at our house.

Adam usually falls asleep for the night between 9 and 10 pm. He wakes up for the day between 6:30 and 7:30 am. This photo was taken at 10:23 pm. Because I hold Adam while he sleeps I am able to nurse him several times throughout the night without him waking up, crying, or opening his eyes. I will suddenly wake up if I have gone to sleep or if he is awake he will stir a little and I offer him my breast. If he wants it he will nurse for a while, if not sometimes I will give him his pacifier (which he started taking around 3 months old) and he will take that and go back to sleep. I would guess he wakes up an average of 4 times during his night time sleep period. So, on the one hand he is 7-months old and sleeps through the night for a 9 1/2 hour period, on the other hand he does nurse during the night, but he is not really awake for that.

He naps a short nap in the morning 2-3 hours after waking up, his morning nap is about 1/2 an hour to an hour, depending on if we have to go pick his sister up from preschool during that time and if that wakes him up or not. He takes an afternoon nap, which is his long nap of 2 hours or more, again depending on interruptions, he is the youngest of four. And then he often times takes an evening nap of 1/2 an hour to an hour.

I do not believe in putting babies on schedules, I completely follow his lead with eating and sleeping, although when he is tired and I can tell I will put him to sleep, sometimes with a little struggle from him, but more often then not pretty easily.
